"Anglicans don't go to church to be entertained. They go to use the service, or, if you prefer, to enact it. Every service is a structure of acts and words through which we receive a sacrament, or repent, or supplicate, or adore. And it enables us to do these things best—if you like, it 'works' best-when, through long familiarity, we don't have to think about it. As long as you notice, and have to count the steps, you are not yet dancing but only learning to dance... The perfect church service would be one we were almost unaware of; our attention would have been on God... But every novelty prevents this. It fixes our attention on the service itself, and thinking about worship is a different thing from worshipping."
— C.S. Lewis, Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer

Liturgical Worship
Worship is not a performance to watch but a rhythm we enter. Through a historic liturgy, we pray, confess, receive, hear, and come to the Table—week after week—being formed by the gospel and sent into mission together.

Questions You May Have
What does worship look like at your church?
Our worship follows a historic Anglican liturgy shaped by Scripture and the tradition of the Church. We gather to pray, hear God’s Word, confess our sins, receive forgiveness, and come to the Lord’s Table together.
At Incarnation, we use the 1928 Book of Common Prayer and the 2017 Book of Common Praise, with a focus on the ancient and reformed hymnody of the Church. The service is participatory — you won’t just watch, but join in the prayers, responses, and songs.
